KUALA LUMPUR – There is no need to report the internal “cartel” to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
He said in a press conference at Bukit Aman that he has things under control and will put an end to the move by the “cartel” to oust him.
“I have discussed the matter with Bukit Aman’s department of integrity and compliance standards. Internal action will be taken.”
He also said that there is no need to have a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on the matter.
“Do not be alarmed. I appreciate the public’s reaction and this means that the issue of corruption and wrongdoing in the force is an important one.
“I hope this will encourage the force to do better (in line with what) the public expects of it.”
Just two days ago, Hamid refuted the need for an RCI following his allegation of a “cartel” within the force aimed at bringing him down.
In a press conference at Bukit Aman, he said the names of the officers involved would not be revealed.
The day before, Hamid gave an assurance that allegations of a cartel within the force will be addressed without the need to lodge a report with the Police Force Commission.
More than a week ago, he told Sinar Harian that there is a cartel in the force that includes younger officers conspiring to remove him.
He said these officers are the masterminds of a cartel that wants to dominate the country’s security force for their personal interest.
“There are efforts by the cartel to disgrace and bring me down.”
Hamid was appointed IGP on a contract basis after his retirement. His contract ends May 3. – The Vibes, March 25, 2021
