PUTRAJAYA – The government has extended the exemption for private vehicle owners to renew their driving and motor vehicle licences from April 1 to May 31, said Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
“However, drivers must have valid motor vehicle insurance, and present their e-cover notes to traffic enforcement personnel upon request,” said the transport minister in a statement today.
He said those with driving and motor vehicle licences that have expired or will expire between February 1 and March 31 must undergo the renewal process within 60 days from April 1 to May 31.
“Action will be taken if they fail to do so.”
Those with licences expiring between April 1 and May 31 must undergo renewal within 60 days from June 1 to July 31, he added.
Wee said the exemption is granted to ensure compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures by reducing the chances of crowding at licence-renewal offices. – Bernama, March 26, 2021
