KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya Umno deputy chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz has been suspended from the party for six years, or two cycles of the Umno Supreme Council elections.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the decision was made at a Supreme Council meeting last night, and the letter of suspension has been sent.
“Everything is in the letter, (including) which part of the party constitution was violated,” he said after the meeting yesterday.
“It is hereby that your suspension will be for six years or for two terms of Umno supreme council elections, ” the letter read.
The suspension takes effect from yesterday.
Tun Faisal, who is also press secretary to Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, had been issued a show-cause letter by the party last month for openly criticising Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Meanwhile, on the Umno general assembly today, Ahmad said 1,100 delegates will be in attendance at three main halls of the Putra World Trade Centre. – The Vibes, March 28, 2021
