MIRI – Despite not suffering from any serious illnesses, a 50-year-old man in Bintulu suddenly collapsed and died, according to the state Disaster Management Committee (DMC) secretariat.
In a press statement today, the secretariat announced that the deceased had no comorbidity at all but was found to have succumbed to Covid-19.
“The 50-year-old man collapsed in his house and was found unconscious by his family members in the house on March 29. He was rushed to Bintulu Hospital Emergency Unit, but died on that day, after which samples were taken from his body for tests.
“On April 2, the tests confirmed that he died of Covid-19. He did not have any comorbidities,” the DMC said, in addition to expressing its condolences to the deceased's family.
This latest fatality in the Bintulu district, which is in northern Sarawak, brings the coronavirus death toll in the state up to 113. Meanwhile, the state also recorded 290 new positive cases today and 226 patients discharged state-wide today.
“There is a new cluster called the Kg Binyu Cluster in Kuching district that was sparked off during a wedding gathering, which saw 68 people infected by Covid-19,” the DMC said, adding that active tracing is still being carried out in all 37 active clusters in Sarawak.
Kuching district today recorded the most new infections (86), followed Bintulu (81), Miri (36), Sibu (22), Serian (20), and several other districts (below 10 new cases each). – The Vibes, April 3, 2021
