PORT DICKSON – Two crew members of the cargo vessel MV Rapallo berthed here have had to be rushed to hospital after suffering severe burns.

The Marine Department said in a statement today the victims were rushed to Port Dickson Hospital and have been transferred to intensive care due to the severity of their wounds.

It added that their injuries were due to an incident while they were working in the engine room.

The vessel, which is registered in Romania, is berthed at the Jimah Energy Venture terminal for refuelling, and the vessel was scheduled to sail at 10am today. 

The department has initiated investigations into the incident with officers from Port Klang and Port Dickson. It will be conducted under Section 334 (1) Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 to establish the cause of the incident. – The Vibes, April 8, 2021
