GEORGE TOWN – Four vehicles have been destroyed in a fire at a car park in Halaman Mayang, Bayan Baru, early this morning believed to have been sparked from a rubbish pile burning overnight.

Fire engines from the Bayan Baru fire station rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 2.10am.

Senior officer Mohd Awis Kharni Abdul Rahman said a Proton Iswara and van are burnt beyond repair, while a Naza Suria and Perodua Myvi are partially burnt at the scene.

Initial investigations revealed that the fire may have been sparked from a rubbish pile left burning near the car park, he added, but the forensics unit is still probing the cause of the blaze.

No injury has been reported. – The Vibes, April 18, 2021
