KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya has started to push out appointments for those who have booked their slots for the voluntary AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination.

“Some people should be waking up to their AZ appointments in their MySj (MySejahtera app). These are progressively being pushed out throughout today. Any issues, please reach out to @JKJAVMY,” tweeted the national immunisation programme’s coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said Malaysia is scheduled to receive a million more vaccine doses this month via the Covax facility.

“We will expand the opt-in in other states (except Sarawak, which has declined) and ensure those without access to the internet can also sign up.”

Some Malaysians have shared screenshots of their notifications online, tagging the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

Twitter user @nadiasb94 said: “@JKJAVMY updated my home address (since I registered in Kelantan before) to Kuala Lumpur just now, and within 5 minutes, appointment updated! I’m excited.”

User @AnandSubra, who also received his vaccination notification, said: “Very impressed with the push notifications on @my_sejahtera and the response time. Thanks @JKJAVMY.”

The committee has said booking dates cannot be changed, as all AstraZeneca vaccination slots are taken up.

“However, you can cancel the appointment when you receive it. A new date will be given later. You will get an appointment for the AZ vaccine only if your registered address for vaccination on MySejahtera is in Selangor or Kuala Lumpur.”

User @papababysitter asked: “Dear @JKJAVMY, just to double confirm. My wife’s slot 1130, my slot is 2pm. So, it is perfectly fine to come together at the same time i.e. 1130am?”

The committee replied: “Please understand that time slots are given to avoid overcrowding at a PPV (vaccination centre). It is highly encouraged that you follow the set time. However, if it is not at all possible for you to come at the time slot given for each, please choose one time for both to come.”

Those who have received the notification must confirm their appointments via MySejahtera.

The AstraZeneca vaccination registration slots in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were all snapped up within four hours of the launch at noon yesterday.

The PPVs are at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur; Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam; Dewan 1, Bangunan Peperiksaan, Universiti Malaya; and, Dewan Gemilang, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

The Health Ministry has promised that 268,600 doses of the jab will be made available on a voluntary basis in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, after concerns were raised regarding its safety.

Last week, the government announced that the vaccine will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to residents.

The move was made to address public concerns and fears about the vaccine, apart from not wanting to disrupt the ongoing immunisation programme.

Studies have shown that the AstraZeneca vaccine has a probability of leading to the formation of blood clots in one out of every 250,000 individuals who receive it, or a rate of 0.0004%. – The Vibes, May 3, 2021
