NSC ends EMCO in Genting ahead of schedule

KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council (NSC) has decided to end the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Windmills Condominium, Genting View Resorts, and Apartment Mawar today.

Located in Genting Highlands, the EMCO for the three was originally scheduled to end May 23 but the Health Ministry (MoH) said since infections are reducing, clusters are under control, and positive cases are being treated, the restrictions can be lifted ahead of schedule.

“After a risk assessment and upon advice from MoH, the government has agreed to end the EMCO at Windmills Condominium, Genting View Resorts, and Apartment Mawar on May 16 (today), earlier than scheduled,” Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said in a statement.

Meanwhile, due to an increase of infections within weeks at Ulu Lepak, Gali and Raub district in Pahang, the NSC has decided to implement the EMCO in these areas from May18 to May 23.

Similarly, MoH also reported an increase of infections in a few localities at Bandar Darulaman and Lubuk Kawah in Jitra Pahang, namely Taman Mahsuri 2A, Taman Mahsuri 2B ,Taman Mahsuri 2C, Pusat Perniagaan Bandar Barat, Kampung Paya Kerchut ,Taman Tunku Anum ,Kampung Lubuk Kawah, Taman Desa Tanjung, and Taman Desa Darul Aman Naga.

“Until today, MoH has conducted 207 tests in these localities and 94 were found positive for Covid-19,” Ismail added.

The NSC will be placing these localities under EMCO from May 18 to May 31. – The Vibes, May 16, 2021
