KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) is offering 2.5% in rebates for their consumers’ total cash deposits on a pro rata basis.

Its senior general manager (asset management) Norhizami Abu Hasan said the rebates amounting to RM7.9 million would be credited directly into the electricity bill accounts of 606,273 registered users in stages, beginning this month.

“The power supply deposit is charged as security for damage or to settle arrears when consumers terminate their supply contracts in accordance with Regulation 5(5) of the Licensee Supply Regulations 1990,” he said in a statement.

The security deposit is calculated as being equivalent to a two-month bill of power usage based on the average of the last six months, to be reviewed every six months.

Norhizami said the increase in security deposit would only be imposed if there is an increase in consumption.

But if the average consumption is lesser than the security deposit, then it can be returned to consumers on request through rebates on their electricity bills.

For further information, visit the nearest SESB branch or contact customer service at 15454 or 088-515000. – The Vibes, May 19, 2021
