KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has broken its daily Covid-19 caseload record, registering 9,020 infections today.

The number of new fatalities also hit a new high of 98 victims, bringing the cumulative death toll to 2,650.

Selangor leads with 2,836 cases, followed by Kelantan (907), Negeri Sembilan (898), Kuala Lumpur (789), and Sarawak (726).

Johor and Kedah both saw 468 cases each, followed by Penang (345), Melaka (340), Perak (272), Sabah (265), Labuan (253), Pahang (216), and Terengganu (189).

Putrajaya recorded 29 infections, and Perlis has 19. The fresh cases take the country’s coronavirus tally to 558,534.

As for clusters, the Health Ministry reported that 630 clusters remain active including the 23 new ones identified today.

Eight of the new clusters involved worksites in Selangor, Johor, Kelantan, and Malacca registering a total of 163 infections.

Meanwhile, the ministry also identified six clusters involving religious activities in Sabah, Johor, Penang, Perak, and Malacca, accumulating a total of 99 confirmed Covid-19 cases.

As for community clusters, eight were identified in Selangor, Sarawak, Johor, Kedah, Penang, Pahang, Terengganu, and Labuan.

In total, these community clusters registered 229 infections.

Only one cluster involving an educational institution was identified in Perak registering 13 cases. – The Vibes, May 29, 2021
