KUALA LUMPUR – With no Parliament sitting held amid the emergency, the people’s hope rests with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said Lim Guan Eng.
“Tuanku is our hope because there is no Parliament sitting, so there is no room for the people to air their problems,” the DAP secretary-general told reporters outside Istana Negara following his audience with the king today.
“We hope that the king upholds the hope of the people, so that they will be protected.”
The Bagan MP, who entered the palace complex at 1.57pm, was seen leaving at 3.15pm in a white Toyota Vellfire after his nearly hour-long audience with Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Lim said he raised several issues about Malaysia’s current situation, including the Covid-19 and economic crises.
He said the king heard his views as a political leader and people’s representative.
The public needs to be taken care of, especially in terms of the economy, he said, while also calling for Covid-19 vaccinations to be expedited.
Lim said he raised concerns about assistance for the people, including those living in opposition-held constituencies.
Asked whether the Agong spoke about DAP’s position on the government, he declined to comment.
