KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (Marii) has announced the resignation of its Medical and Health Data Management adviser Dr Mohamad Faizal Mohamad Anwar with immediate effect.

Marii in a statement today said: “We express our appreciation for his services in areas related to data-driven health management systems, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

Marii, an agency under the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti), had earlier said Dr Faizal – a cosmetic doctor reportedly suspended by a medical body in Australia – did not take on any leading or executive function in any Covid-19 task force for Marii or Miti.

Some online circles have been rife with questions on the doctor’s appointment after he appeared as a guest alongside Marii CEO Datuk Madani Sahari on a local TV programme recently.

Netizens raised concerns about his appointment in light of news of his suspension in Australia, with some questioning his legitimacy to advise the Miti agency. – The Vibes, June 27, 2021
