KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded its highest ever number of new daily Covid-19 cases today at 11,079, breaching the five-figure mark for the first time.

The Health Ministry said this takes the cumulative tally of infections to 855,949.

Of the new cases, only 27 are imported.

The Health Ministry said 125 fatalities were recorded, taking the death toll to 6,385.

There were also 5,990 recoveries in the past 24 hours, with 972 in intensive care and 456 requiring breathing support.

Selangor again logged the highest number of cases at 5,263, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,521), Negri Sembilan (1,033), Kedah (497), Sarawak (472), Johor (406), Perak (329), Melaka (323) and Pahang (321).

Of the 23 new clusters, 13 stem from workplaces and 10 are from the community.
