KUALA LUMPUR – Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has clarified that the upload speed configuration for its Unifi 500Mbps package is 100Mbps, and not 200Mbps as previously stated in promotional materials.
It reiterated that there has been no change to the configuration.
TM’s clarification is in response to a statement by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on the issue.
The company gave an assurance that it is committed to protecting consumer rights.
“We regret the error and have issued a clarification regarding the matter on Friday night,” it said in a statement today.
TM said it is tightening its processes to ensure such errors do not recur.
“In the meantime, we will give our full cooperation to MCMC’s investigation.
“All customers are still within the 30-day Try Me period as we introduced the package less than a month ago, on August 24.
“Hence, customers can opt to discontinue without any penalty.”
It said it will reach out to customers who signed up for the package to inform them of the mistake and let them know of their options starting today.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused, and assure our customers that all of our channels, including our website and marketing materials, have been updated to reflect the correct information.” – Bernama, September 21, 2020
