Cops probe into man who claims future wife beaten up till crippled

by Essam Abdullah

TENOM – Police are investigating a man for slander, after he made a video claiming his future wife was crippled after being beaten up by four family members.

Tenom police chief Hasan Majid told a press conference that the authorities have received five reports over the video, which was uploaded on the man’s Facebook account – Mark of the Beast 666 North Borneo – on Sunday.

In the two-minute and 14-second video, the man claimed that his future wife had been beaten up until she was crippled.

But Hasan said the woman in question had come forward and lodged a report denying the accusation that she was hurt.

“The woman, 21, said the four men claimed in the video were her father and three cousins.

“The woman seems fine, healthy, and is now with her family in Kg Jawa Sumbiling, here.”

He said the woman is the man’s ex-girlfriend, adding that the latter is believed to be unhappy as the former ended their relationship after not receiving blessing from her family.

“An investigation paper has been opened under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1988 for slander.”

If convicted, an individual faces a two-year jail sentence or fine. – The Vibes, July 21, 2021
