KOTA KINABALU – You can be as superstrong as Captain Marvel and Spiderman but you still need to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

That’s the message a married couple here wanted to send home.

Adorned in Captain Marvel and Spiderman costumes respectively, the couple showed up at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) vaccination centre at 2pm today for their Covid-19 shots.

Hasryman Osman and Siti Fatimah turned heads and were a target for people who wanted to take photographs of them.

“I want to encourage more people to come forward to get vaccinated.

“Many think that superheroes have super-strength but that does not mean they will not catch Covid-19.

“My wife and I came here also to provide moral support,” said Hasryman, adding that they were happy to receive their first dose and are looking forward to completing the second dose.

His wife, Siti said she decided to dress up as Captain Marvel to support her husband besides getting her jab.

In jest, she said her husband is afraid of needles and that luckily the vaccination process went smoothly for both of them.

“We hope more will turn up for vaccination. We need to do this so we can return to our normal lives,” she said.

The UMS vaccination center can administer jabs for up to 3,000 people daily.

Its director Dr Helen Lasimbang however said that only 70% of the 2,700 people summoned via the MySejahtera app were turning up. – The Vibes, July 27, 2021
