KUALA LUMPUR – Penang Health Department director Datuk Dr Asmayani Khalib has been appointed deputy health director-general (medical) effective today.
Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, announcing the appointment in a Facebook post, said Dr Asmayani replaces Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail, who retires today.
“All the best in carrying out the duties… the excellence of the Health Ministry’s medical programmes will continue,” said Dr Noor Hisham, congratulating Dr Asmayani.
Dr Asmayani has served as Penang Health Department director since 2019, as well as director of the National Cancer Institute, director of Kulim Hospital, and senior principal assistant director of the Health Ministry’s medical development division.
She has worked at several hospitals and health facilities over the years, namely Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital and Kajang Hospital in Selangor; Perak Health Department and Taiping Hospital; Penang Hospital and Bukit Mertajam Hospital; and, Jengka Hospital in Pahang. – Bernama, August 17, 2021
