KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Bagan Datuk-BN) will not take part in the Budget 2022 debate, as he will be in Germany from October 26 to November 21 for medical treatment.
The Umno president was granted the floor during Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan’s (Pontian-BN) debate to reply to a question on his Germany trip and the high court temporarily returning his passport.
“As decided by the court, I have been granted my temporary international passport from October 26 to November 21. Therefore, during the Budget voting, I apologise because I won’t be here.
“However, have faith that I will be supporting the Budget,” said Zahid during the discussion over the windfall tax bill.
Yesterday, the high court approved the temporary return of Zahid’s passport, enabling his trip to Germany for treatment.
The application was made before judge Datuk Mohd Yazid Mustafa at the said court and was similar to that made at the Kuala Lumpur High Court last week. The temporary release of the passport will not affect Zahid’s next trial date on October 22.
On October 7, lawyer Hamidi Mohd Noh, also representing Zahid, said his client applied to the Kuala Lumpur High Court for his passport to be released on October 26, and the document will be returned on November 21.
Hamidi told judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah that Zahid is suffering back and neck pain, and needs to undergo treatment by a leading specialist in Munich. – The Vibes, October 12, 2021
