KUALA LUMPUR – The country saw a slight decrease in the number of new Covid-19 cases with 5,097 infections recorded today, bringing the cumulative total since the pandemic began to 2,619,577.
Along with this decrease, the nation’s daily Covid-19 infectivity rate (Rt) is also on a downward trend, dropping to 0.97 today.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that only 17 of the new infections today were imported, with the other 5,080 being local cases.
In a statement today, he said that 5,352 recoveries were also reported, pushing the total number of recovered cases to 2,522,045.
He added that, of the newly reported cases, 510 are being treated in intensive care units, with 258 patients requiring respiratory assistance.
“Among the 5,097 cases recorded today, 84 cases (1.6%) involve patients in categories 3, 4, and 5, while 5,013 (98.4%) involved patients in categories 1 and 2,” he said.
The nation has seen a total of 5,928 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including eight new clusters detected today.
The number of clusters that have ended stands at 5,694 while 234 remain active. – The Vibes, November 27, 2021
