KUALA LUMPUR – The high-ranking syariah judge in the middle of an alleged sexual harassment case has lodged a police report against his accuser, a former Umno supreme council member.

The report was lodged against Datuk Lokman Noor Adam at the Ampang police station this morning, accusing him of spreading slander and committing criminal defamation against him, the New Straits Times reported.

In the report, the judge denied the accusations and said they were all orchestrated by certain individuals to oust him from his position.

He said the issue had first surfaced on December 11 last year when a woman lodged a report against him, making all kinds of wild allegations.

“I counter-lodged a report the very next day and called on police to investigate the false report lodged by the woman.

“I also made it clear in my report that it was all orchestrated by certain individuals who wanted to get rid of me as they were after my post,” the judge said.

Earlier, The Vibes reported that police will have to interview several more witnesses before completing investigations into the case.

Ampang Jaya police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak told The Vibes that the investigation team has been ordered to probe and expand several other elements of investigations by Bukit Aman’s Prosecution and Legal (D5) division.

“We received instructions from Bukit Aman D5 to further investigations, so there are two to three more things that need to be done before we can resubmit the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor.

“We are not sure when we will be able to complete investigations; there are several witnesses we are looking to interview and they have also asked for different timings, so it’s hard for me to explain in further detail,” he said when contacted.

Farouk said investigations into the case have been expedited considering how it has become a case of public interest. – The Vibes, January 12, 2022
