KOTA KINABALU – Two boys aged 4 and 9 have gone missing in two separate incidents after taking part in recreational activities near rivers in Beluran and Pitas.  

According to statements from the Fire and Rescue Department today, 4-year-old Mohd Ridwan Suprianto Mohd Aidil was last seen playing in a river in Man Coon Estate, Beluran, yesterday. He is believed to have drowned and the Beluran Fire and Rescue Department is now actively searching for the victim.  

The department activated a search-and-rescue operation at 6.53am today after receiving a report on the missing child at 5.15pm yesterday.  

Fifteen firemen and a K9 search dog from the department were also dispatched to the scene, assisted by 15 villagers.

In a similar incident in Pitas, a 9-year-old whose name has yet to be identified had also gone missing, believed to have drowned after attending a picnic by Sg Bengkoka, Jalan Hapseng Kg Mangkabusu.
