KUALA LUMPUR – Slope reinforcement measures are being put in by Subang Jaya City Council personnel following yesterday’s landslide at Jalan LP 1A/2 Lestari Perdana in Serdang.
Officers from the Petaling District and Land Office, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, and police have been on standby at the affected area since this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department chief Norazam Khamis said while there has been slight soil movement since yesterday, works to install sheet piles are currently in progress and the area is closed from public access.
Meanwhile, Serdang district police have instructed the closure of 17 commercial premises until the area is certified safe. The Subang Jaya City Council said in a statement that vehicle owners were told to remove their cars from the affected area.
The landslide, which happened yesterday afternoon, saw the damaging of five vehicles after the land beneath the cliff they had parked on gave way.
Yesterday, Serdang Fire and Rescue Department chief Saharudin Abdul Razak said the station received a report on the incident of apparent soil subsidence at about 6.38pm, adding that the event did not involve any victims.
According to him, the five vehicles were parked in front of a car workshop and the distance between the cliff that started to collapse and the workshop was 7m.
He added that a landslip had occurred in the area in 2017, about 50m from the site of yesterday’s incident. – The Vibes, January 26, 2022
