KOTA KINABALU – The children Covid-19 immunisation programme (PICKids) will start from February 5 in Sabah and will involve five health facilities, said state Health Director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin, today.

The facilities tasked with the inoculation programme are the Women and Children Hospital here, Sandakan’s Duchess of Kent Hospital, Keningau Hospital, Lahad Datu Hospital and Tawau Hospital.

PICKids is the national immunisation programme for children under the age of 12.

“The expansion of the children’s vaccination programme will be intensified state-wide starting this Saturday.

“The Sabah Health Department has prepared 251 inoculation centres – both private and public facilities – for vaccination, whether it is for booster shots. For children, first and second doses too,” she said in a statement here today.

A total of 23,578 children aged between five and 12 years old registered in the MySejahtera application are eligible for the shots.

“We want parents and guardians to register their children via the MySejahtera app using MyKid and birth certificates.

“The implementation of PICKids in Sabah will be done via walk-in, including at the off-site centres, outreach, and district schools,” said Rose, adding that parents should also prepare meals when bringing their children for their shots. – The Vibes, February 3, 2022
