KOTA KINABALU – Covid-19 infections continue to rise unabated in Sabah and have now breached the four-digit mark today.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 1,205 cases were recorded in the state today, triple more than what was seen three days ago.
“Cases have tripled in three days, with 43.7% sporadic and symptomatic cases. Expect the number ro rise further,” he said via his Twitter account.
Some 99.4% of the cases are in Categories 1 and 2, he said.
Infections had doubled yesterday, raising the alarm over poor observance of health standard operating procedures (SOPs).
He said positive cases were reported throughout the state, especially from close contact screening.
“From this data, it could be concluded that there’s a likelihood of activities that do not adhere to the SOPs,” said Masidi in a statement last night.
More details of the surge in infections will be revealed via Masidi’s daily briefing tonight. – The Vibes, Feb 5, 2022
