KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s (PBM) Tebrau MP Steven Choong will clash with Muda and MCA for the Puteri Wangsa seat in Johor.

Choong, who is also PBM deputy president, announced that the party will also contest in Maharani, Tiram and Stulang.

Puteri Wangsa is one of state constituencies under Tebrau and was won by Bersatu in 2018 under the Pakatan Harapan banner prior to the 2020 Sheraton Move.

Meanwhile, the Maharani, Tiram and Stulang seats were previously won by Amanah, DAP and PKR.

Azmi Ali of PBM will contest in Tiram, which is another constituency under Tebrau. The party also announced that Saiful Bahari and Hasni Asmui will run for Stulang and Maharani.

Since Choong’s withdrawal from PKR on February 28 last year, he remained as an independent MP. There were also talks of Bersatu wooing him to join the party.

Earlier this month, PKR and Muda clashed during negotiations as Muda wanted to run in Puteri Wangsa, which was vehemently opposed by Johor Wanita PKR chief Napsiah Khamis Maharan.

Later, PKR announced that Napsiah will instead contest for the Kempas seat.

Nomination day is on February 26 while polling day is on March 12. – The Vibes, February 24, 2022
