KUALA LUMPUR – The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is calling for the Dewan Rakyat speaker to allow lawmakers one day to debate its report on the acquisition of the MySejahtera application.

The committee will also present the report in the Dewan Rakyat in the first week of the sitting that resumes on July 18.

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh said in a statement that the committee is advising the government to take into account its recommendations as well as the debate among lawmakers before making decisions with financial implications in regard to the development of the MySejahtera app.

He added that the PAC on April 21 took statements from the three agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department (PMD) – the National Security Council (NSC), the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), and the National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) – for another round of inquiries into the MySejahtera issue.

Wong said the PAC will review all statements, documents, and minutes of meetings before deciding to summon other witnesses.

In this week’s proceedings, he said the topics were on who was involved in appointing KPISoft Sdn Bhd in April 2020 to develop the MySejahtera app and the continuation of the proposed CSR concept.

He added that other issues were the lack of an official contract between the government and the company as well as the app’s ownership – especially where KPISoft and/or MySj Sdn Bhd stand on intellectual property claims as noted in court documents and others.

The PMD was represented by Deputy Secretary-General (Finance & Development) Datuk Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria and Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Datuk Mohamad Ismail.

Others in the three-hour proceedings were Mampu director-general Datuk Seri Yusoff Ismail, NSC director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad and Nacsa chief executive Rahamzan Hashim.

This was the second such session after the one on April 14 that was attended by Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Last month, the PAC revealed in a report that there were discrepancies in the ownership status of MySejahtera, sparking a public outcry over concerns of data privacy. – The Vibes, April 23, 2022
