DEWAN Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, confirmed that he has submitted the vacancy of the Subang parliamentary seat to the Election Commission (EC) following the resignation of its incumbent, Wong Chen, yesterday.

The matter was announced at a Special Sitting of Parliament to table the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the Tabung Haji (TH) Board today at the Dewan Rakyat.

"The YB for the Subang constituency, Wong Chen, has sent me his resignation letter effective yesterday as a member of the Dewan Rakyat.

"I have informed the EC about the vacancy of the Subang Member of Parliament seat in accordance with Article 54 (1) of the Federal Constitution," he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Yesterday, Wong Chen confirmed his resignation as the Member of Parliament for Subang.

Wong Chen also shared a notice sent to the Speaker dated August 5. – August 11, 2026
