KUALA LUMPUR – Police today said they will summon Rumah Bonda welfare home founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali for questioning regarding the death of a toddler at the home in 2020.

It was reported that the child, Muhammad Adam Rizqi Abdul Azim, had died of pneumonia several months after going under the care of Rumah Bonda.

Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah said statements will be taken from certain individuals related to the case.

“Our investigations will aim to establish if there are any criminal elements, and if there are none, we will refer such findings to the coroner,” he told reporters.

Ashari said police will also be calling in a social media user identified as Fadli, who alleged that police did not allow for a proper post-mortem before the toddler’s remains were released for burial.

It was earlier reported that a post-mortem on the toddler had ruled out foul play.

“Such baseless accusations can cause unrest among the community, he should have confirmed his facts with police before making such allegations as his actions could portray selectiveness within the force,” Ashari said.

Bukit Aman recently launched an inquiry on the case after calls for it be reinvestigated following revelations of conditions at Rumah Bonda during Siti Bainun’s ongoing trial for child abuse in Johor.

Siti Bainun faces two charges of abuse and neglect of a special needs child at her welfare home. The case has become a hotly debated topic especially on social media, forcing the court to issue warnings against making comments on proceedings. – The Vibes, April 28, 2022
