A THAI woman reported missing in Taiwan was found strangled inside a suitcase in a freezer at a technology company in Taichung, about a week after she disappeared, according to Taiwanese and Thai media reports.
The woman, identified by Taiwanese reports only as Arth, was found on Saturday after police arrested her 43-year-old Taiwanese boyfriend, identified as Wu, who reportedly led investigators to the freezer.
Police had been investigating her disappearance after she arrived in Taiwan on Sept 2.
According to reports, Arth and Wu had been in a relationship for about a year after meeting when Wu previously visited Thailand. They had subsequently met in both Taiwan and Thailand.
Wu reportedly went to the woman’s hotel near Ximending in Taipei on Sept 12 and left the following day carrying a large suitcase.
Police later used surveillance camera footage to trace his movements and arrested him on Saturday.
According to police, Wu told investigators that Arth had wanted to end their relationship and that he had lost control and strangled her.
He allegedly placed her body in the suitcase before taking it to his office in Taichung, where he put it in a freezer.
The body was believed to have remained there for about a week before police recovered it.
Thai media reported that the victim was from Nakhon Ratchasima in northeastern Thailand and identified her as Duangpon Arthan, 35.
Taiwanese authorities have arrested Wu and charged him with murder. - September 21, 2026
