KUALA LUMPUR – A landslide in Taman Pertama in Cheras levelled an entire house earlier this afternoon, and rendered eight other homes unsafe for occupancy.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that its operations centre received a distress call at about 2.52pm notifying them of the incident along Lorong Selangat.

It said a fire rescue tender truck and an emergency medical rescue service vehicle, with seven personnel from the Bandar Tun Razak Station, were dispatched to the scene following the call.

However, no deaths or injuries were reported.

According to operations commander Mohd Azizi Abdullah, the rescue team – upon arrival at the scene – discovered the landslide had destroyed the house, while eight others in the location were found to be unsafe.

“The personnel and police had instructed residents to vacate their homes and move to safe areas,” the statement read.

“There were no casualties reported. Follow up action has been given to the police, Ikram (Public Works Institute), TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) and Syabas (Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd).” – The Vibes, May 22, 2022
