KUALA LUMPUR – The frantic search for a 16-year-old boy continues following his disappearance two days ago, with family members holding out hope for his safe return.
The boy, Ali Imran Naseruddin, had gone missing from his home in Bandar Bukit Puchong 2 at approximately 4am on Thursday (June 16).
His mother, Wan Esuriyanti Wan Ahmad, a corporate communications head and former journalist, this morning posted on her Facebook account that there had been leads received from the public claiming that Ali Imran had been spotted in the Keramat area last night at around 9.30pm.
However, the family was not able to reunite with him as they found no trace of Ali in the location mentioned.
“We hurried over, but it was in vain. We can only distribute flyers with his photos and our contact information.
“As much as our grief grows, we remain hopeful that he is safe and protected by Allah SWT,” she said.
Previously, she had said in an earlier post that her only son, who is the youngest of two siblings, failed to return on June 16 and has been uncontactable since then.
The student of SMK USJ 4 was discovered missing from his room at about 5.30am when his mother had gone to wake him up for school, New Straits Times reported yesterday.
A close circuit television camera recording from the security guardhouse showed the teenager walking out of the neighbourhood at 4am, dressed in all black and carrying a small navy-blue bag with him.
Wan Esuriyanti added that his handphone had been switched off and he had earlier disabled the location feature on his phone to save battery.
“I have been sending him texts via the short messaging system telling him that we love him, calling him ‘anak mama’ and his name.
“I ask for everyone to pray for his safety and to keep a lookout for him. Do not judge him. He is a good boy. That is all I ask,” she was quoted as saying.
She added that a missing person’s report was lodged immediately at the Puchong police station.
The case has since been handed over to the Sepang district headquarters, with police issuing a missing persons alert and distributing pictures of Ali at gas stations and surau.
