SHAH ALAM – The charred body of a 66-year-old man was found in a wooden house that caught fire in Kg Kanchong Darat, Banting, tonight.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hafisham Mohd Noor in a statement said the department received a call about the incident at 8.17pm.

“The fire involved a house measuring 40x50ft that was 80% burned. The fire was brought under control by firefighters at 8.43pm and no victims had been reported to be involved in the fire at that point.

“At 9.32pm, we received information from the house owner’s wife that her husband had been at the house since the afternoon.

“After conducting a search, the firemen found the charred remains of a man at the back of the house,” he said, adding that the senior citizen was believed to be trying to get out of the house during the fire incident. – Bernama, June 24, 2022
