SERDANG – Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said Perikatan Nasional (PN) would be the answer to the many issues faced by youths if voted in at the 15th general election.

In his bid to attract some 5.8 million new voters eligible to vote in the coming polls, he said the problems facing youths today include unemployment and job mismatch issues, which have grown more acute after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There are challenges we need to consider in attracting the youth. A solution is by offering them sufficient job opportunities. After the Covid-19 pandemic, they are pressured by changes in the job market. A graduate cannot even land a job that fits their qualification,” Wan Fayhsal said when speaking at the PN convention today.

“We also face a significant problem in the education sector as the Statistics Department has revealed that 72% of students did not pursue their studies after SPM. This will cause other issues for youths to face.

“This is what we need to address so that they know that PN has solutions to offer”, said the deputy minister of national unity.

Youths are “kingmakers”, he added, and PN must have solutions to attract their vote in the general election.

The number of youth voters has swelled following the implementation of Undi18 laws which lower the minimum age of voting from 21 to 18, as well as the implementation of automatic voter registration. – The Vibes, August 27, 2022.
