KUALA LUMPUR – Former Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Adam will be charged at the cybercrime sessions court here today for allegedly uploading insulting content on his Facebook page.

The videos allegedly contain offensive comments against the government and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Briefly speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Lokman claimed that he requested for the Supreme Council to take disciplinary action against Ismail Sabri over supposed contracts between the prime minister and his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The charges against Lokman are framed under Section 233(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities regarding two separate videos uploaded to his Facebook page.

The section carries a penalty of a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both, if convicted.

His case was investigated by the Classified Crimes Investigation Unit and Criminal Investigation Department.

Lokman was spotted entering the court complex here at 9.05am, minutes after Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived with her entourage of at least 20 people for her trial verdict. – The Vibes, September 1, 2022
