MIRI – PKR is fielding 12 new faces in Sarawak and has dropped incumbent Miri MP Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng from its candidates’ list for the general election (GE15).

Following a meeting with PKR leaders, party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Dr Teo will be replaced in Miri by state party youth chief Chiew Choon Man.

However, the reasons for the removal of the two-term MP were not disclosed.

Anwar also said state PKR chairman Roland Engan will be the PKR candidate for Baram, while its deputy chairman Abun Sui will be the candidate for Hulu Rajang.

The opposition leader also said the party will contest 16 of the 31 parliamentary seats in the state, with 12 of the candidates being first-time candidates.

Anwar is currently on a tour of several districts in Sarawak ahead of GE15.
