KUALA LUMPUR – LRT services for 16 stations between Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park have been shut down for seven days, beginning from today, following two days of service disruption.

According to a statement by RapidRail at 4.55am, other stations will continue to operate as usual and end services earlier by 11pm.

The latest development comes following reports of service disruption between the KLCC and Kelana Jaya stations yesterday afternoon.

At 4.49pm yesterday, RapidRail said that stations from Kelana Jaya to Ampang Park had been closed to commuters.

The firm added that the problem was due to a “technical disruption”.

“Rapid Rail’s engineering and technical team, assisted by the Thales Group in Canada as an original equipment manufacturer or OEM, is actively conducting investigations to identify the real cause of the disturbance.

“So far, what is known is that there is a disturbance to the electronic components of the automatic train control system, or ATC, which causes a loss of signal between the control centre and trains.

“This causes the trains to not be able to operate normally in automatic mode between the Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park stations.

“We will inform the public of the Kelana Jaya line’s status from time to time through social media channels and mass media,” the firm said in a statement late last night.

On Monday, service between the Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park stations was hit by a disruption attributed to problems with the automatic driving system. – The Vibes, November 9, 2022
