KUALA LUMPUR – Four people escaped unhurt when an Alam Flora garbage truck crashed through the wall of their home in Kemaris, Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar, near here today.

The incident occurred at 9.15am when an elderly couple, their daughter, and their helper were inside the house.

According to the houseowner, Sawan Kaur, 76, she, her husband, Dr Pall Singh, 76, along with their daughter, who is disabled, and their helper were inside when they heard a loud crash.

“We rushed to check what had happened and were shocked to see the garbage truck on our front porch.

“Fortunately, nobody was outside when the incident occurred, as I would normally be doing my gardening around this time," she said.

She said the wall was totally damaged in the incident, while there was also a burst pipe. Diesel from the lorry had also spilled into the garden area.

“Firemen and also personnel from Alam Flora soon arrived. They immediately cordoned off the area, while firemen also helped clean up the spilled diesel,” she said.

The driver, who escaped unhurt, had since informed the family that the vehicle’s brakes had failed, forcing him to lose control and crash into the wall.

“We are going to lodge a report soon. According to an officer from Alam Flora, they would evaluate the damage before any further action.

“We are worried how long this process is going to take, as our house is totally exposed now and we are worried for our safety,” added Sawan. – The Vibes, November 11, 2022
