KUALA LUMPUR – Corruption allegations involving 146,737 military personnel and their families made by Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, have been described as extremely evil and irresponsible.

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the statement was an insult to the security forces, who risked their lives for the sake of the country.

Faizal said it was one of the most irresponsible and malicious statements ever issued by any politician during the 15th general election (GE15) campaign period.

“Anwar has made a statement accusing military personnel of receiving RM300 to vote for a certain party during the postal voting process for the military,” he said today.

Faizal, who is contesting against Anwar for the Tambun parliamentary seat in GE15, said the PKR President did not show any evidence to support the accusation, so it was clear that it was made without any proof or basis.

“There are 146,737 military voters and their spouses who are eligible to vote in GE15. Anwar has insulted them and called them bribe-takers.

“Accepting a bribe is a crime. Does Anwar think that our military personnel are all criminals?” he asked.

The incumbent for the Tambun seat claimed that it was evident that Anwar was becoming desperate as it was proven that PH had less public support during the campaign period.

“Will this story about election fraud be used as an excuse to claim the election was unfair if PH faces a major loss on November 19?”

“Is Anwar prepared to publicly apologise and take back the insults against the army and their families?”. – The Vibes, November 13, 2022
