KUALA LUMPUR – Rafizi Ramli’s office was purportedly raided by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday following recent police reports relating to his asset declaration.
Speaking at an Ayuh Malaysia ceramah here last night, the PKR deputy president claimed that his staff were questioned by anti-graft officers for up to seven hours and the raid only ended around 9pm.
He also took aim at MACC for supposedly being a political tool used by “hidden hands”, but vowed that he and his team will not stop exposing alleged wrongdoing involving those in public offices.
“This represents all that is wrong in this country. Where is your dignity, MACC?
“The rakyat is bringing up the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal, issues concerning our national security and flood mitigation infrastructure, of which evidence has been provided – yet who do they decide to chase? Little kids.”
Recently, a non-governmental organisation, Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Malaysia, lodged a report with the MACC against Rafizi, urging the commission to probe into his asset declaration regarding his data analytics company Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd.
Its president Syed Mohammad Imran Syed Abdul Aziz had questioned where the RM16 million funding for Invoke, as stated in his declaration, had come from.
In clarifying that the sum only exists “on paper” for as long as the company is not listed, Rafizi questioned why issues such as his various exposé on LCS and the involvement of high-profile individuals are not being investigated.
“I’ve provided evidence implicating (incumbent Mersing MP) Datuk Abdul Latiff Ahmad, but they (MACC) are not investigating him. Yet, they come after me even though funding does not involve public coffers.”
Unperturbed by the raid, Rafizi said he will be revealing more information today, which will incriminate caretaker environment and water minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man – who is also PAS deputy president – over a supposed approval given for a RM2 billion flood mitigation project after the dissolution of Parliament.
“I want to see then how MACC and (its chief commissioner) Tan Sri Azam Baki will respond.”
Rafizi had previously alleged that the Treasury secretary-general has issued a letter dated October 7, 2022, to the Environment and Water Ministry secretary-general to inform of the caretaker finance minister’s decision to award to Mangkubumi Sdn Bhd the Sg Langat 2 flood mitigation project through direct negotiation.
Tuan Ibrahim later announced his intention to file a defamation suit against Rafizi over the allegations.
“Tuan Ibrahim thought I only had one document to expose, so he panicked and threatened to sue me,” said Rafizi.
“Normally, when I expose something, it can drag on for months. Tomorrow (today) at 11.30am, I will deliver a deadly blow to PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
“I will show that there were indeed projects that were approved after Parliament was dissolved. I want to see how PN responds then.”
Last week, Tuan Ibrahim reportedly issued a letter of demand via law firm Yusfarizal Aziz & Zaid, demanding Rafizi to provide in seven days a draft of an apology and a statutory declaration to stop publishing, writing or issuing similar statements.
