KUALA LUMPUR – PKR’s P. Prabakaran has retained the Batu federal seat for Pakatan Harapan (PH) with a strong majority of 22,241 votes in a ten-cornered fight.

The seat’s former MP, Chua Tian Chang, better known as Tian Chua, came in fourth with only 4,603 votes and lost his deposit.

In an immediate reaction, Chua, who was sacked from PKR for standing in Batu as an independent, congratulated PH for winning the Batu seat.

Prabakaran, who polled 45,716 votes, beat his closest rival Azhar Yahya from Barisan Nasional who took 23,475 votes.

Including Tian Chua, the seat’s eight other candidates lost their deposits.
