KUALA LUMPUR – Pahang DAP is backing the state Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a state government, with caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail to lead the administration.

State DAP chief Leong Ngah Ngah said Pahang PH, which is led by Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, is leading discussions with the state BN, Astro Awani reported.

Leong said while Pahang DAP is ready to support BN in forming a new state govt, PH is still giving BN time to come to a consensus.

“Our side has discussed, we leave it to Pahang PH chairman Amirudin to hold discussions with Pahang BN and find the best solution,” he was quoted as saying.

Leong added that “good news” might be announced today.

He added that Pahang PH has not submitted any name as the coalition’s candidate for menteri besar.

“We only have eight seats. What we want is to bring prosperity, stability to this multi-racial country,” he said.

The Pahang assembly was hung following the results of the 15th general election, with Perikatan Nasional (PN) winning 17 seats, BN 16, and PH eight.

A simple majority of 22 seats is needed to form the state government.

One more seat, Tioman, will hold voting on December 7, following the death of the PN candidate on November 19. – The Vibes, 22, 2022
