KUCHING – The five federal ministers from Sarawak will meet Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to seek his input on matters regarding Sarawak that they will focus on.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the meeting scheduled for later today would also enable the newly appointed ministers to get an update on the latest developments in Sarawak.

Fadillah, who has been entrusted with focusing on Sabah and Sarawak affairs, will discuss issues concerning the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) with Abang Johari.

He said he had asked Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali to get input from the Sabah government on the same matter.

“We will try to quickly resolve any arising matters (on MA63) that can be settled in a month,” he told reporters at Kuching International Airport here today.

“Several matters may need parliamentary approval, and we will bring them to the Dewan Rakyat,” he said.

The other four federal ministers from Sarawak are Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (tourism, arts, and culture), Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (women, family, and community development) and Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang (national unity).

On December 5, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Fadillah had been entrusted with focusing on Sabah and Sarawak affairs, especially MA63.

Fadillah is also tasked with helping to reduce the economic gap between the people in Peninsular Malaysia, and Sabah and Sarawak. – Bernama, December 8, 2022
