KUALA LUMPUR – Holidaymakers heading to Resorts World Genting are advised to use the Karak Highway via Genting Sempah following the fatal landslide in Batang Kali early this morning.

This is after police closed off the main roads heading to and from Genting Highlands as a safety precaution.

As of 11am, 13 people have died from the early morning landslide at the Father’s Organic Farm in Batang Kali, said Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

She said that some of the bodies have been sent to Sg Buloh Hospital while the rest are still at the incident site.

A total of 94 victims were involved, of which 25 are missing as search-and-rescue (SAR) operations continue, said police.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged for SAR operations to be carried out systematically by all relevant government agencies.

He also advised ministers heading to the incident site to not get in the way of the SAR personnel there.

The prime minister himself will be heading to Batang Kali tonight.

So far, he said he has been getting updates from Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming, and Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. – The Vibes, December 16, 2022
