KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 71,954 victims have been evacuated to some 444 temporary shelters (PPS) in five states as a result of the floods that devastated the east coast.
The majority of the victims are in Kelantan and Terengganu, according to the information found on the Info Bencana Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat website.
As of 9am today, Terengganu has at least 300 PPS opened and 40,839 evacuees.
Of the total victims in the state, 1,287 are babies, 208 are disabled and 1,657 are senior citizens.
Meanwhile, 30,792 people are in 300 shelters in Kelantan, of which 1,010 are babies, 128 disabled and 1,120 are senior citizens.

In Pahang, three shelters were opened and 221 people evacuated, followed by two shelters in Perak with 54 victims and two PPS in Johor housing 48 evacuees.
Last night, the total number of flood evacuees in five states stood at 71,208 compared to 66,718 in the evening, with Terengganu and Kelantan the hardest hit.
At 6am today, the Public Works Department reported 134 incidents nationwide, of which 108 were floods, 16 landslides, 5 sunken roads, 3 broken/collapsed bridges and two collapsed roads.
