KOTA BARU – All residents around Pasir Mas and Tumpat need to be alert beginning today after part of the embankment involving the Sg Golok Integrated River Basin Development (PLSB) project in Kg Tersang in Pasir Mas broke due to a strong current caused by floods.

Kelantan Drainage and Irrigation Department’s Kamal Mustapha said that, as such, they are expecting the flood situation in the area to be worse.

“The 20km embankment was built in 2018 in the area and was even repaired previously due to cracks caused by floods.

“We received a report at 5pm today and we couldn’t repair it because of the strong current and the road access was cut,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Earlier, a 25-second video clip, which went viral, showed the broken part of the embankment in Kg Tersang, Pasir Mas, with water swiftly inundating the area. – Bernama, December 21, 2022
