KOTA KINABALU – Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor still has the majority support of Sabah’s assemblymen to remain as chief minister, said Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
According to him, talk is rife that certain parties have obtained the support of over half the state’s assemblymen to allow them to form a new state government.
Without naming any parties, Masidi reiterated that Hajiji, who is also GRS chairman, has obtained the admission of support from many assemblymen, including from the seven representatives from Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“It is understood that there are certain parties claiming to have obtained the support of more than half of the state assembly to form the government.
“For the record, the chief minister has received the declarations and support of the majority of the state lawmakers to continue to lead the state at present.
“They include the seven assemblymen from PH,” said Masidi without naming the parties involved.
Masidi said they are prepared to provide evidence of such support if needed, adding that the situation in Sabah remains stable and safe to conduct investments and business.
GRS and Barisan Nasional are the ruling parties in Sabah and currently hold 47 of the 73 seats in the state assembly. – The Vibes, January 4, 2023
