Sibu cops nab man for suspected drug trafficking

SIBU – Police have arrested a 26-year-old local man for suspected involvement in drug trafficking at his house in Lorong Permai Jaya 1B1, Taman Permai at 11.30am, Wednesday.

Sibu district police chief Zulkipli Suhaili said a Narcotics CID team from the Sibu district police headquarters seized two gold-coloured tin foil wrappings with compressed pieces of dried leaves and 11 small clear plastic bags, which are presumably ganja, weighing 2.343kg worth RM6,759.

“Police also confiscated nine small vials of 10ml vape liquid, believed to be cannabis with an estimated weight of 173.7g worth RM900,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Zulkipli said a urine test conducted on the suspect turned out negative but checks found that he has previous records related to drugs.

The suspect has been remanded for five days to assist in the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama, January 6, 2023
