GEORGE TOWN – Umno veteran Tan Sri Mohd Yussof Latiff has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to expedite its investigations into allegations that the former Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had misappropriated Covid-19 economic stimulus packages worth RM92.5 billion.

The allegation is serious and the sum under dispute is also shocking to the public, said the Penang Malays’ Association president.

Hence, it is important that the MACC clear the air over such claims and clarify what actually transpired, said Yussof in a statement.

Recently, Yussof said that the prospects of PN working with Barisan Nasional (BN) became a hot topic within political quarters.

This is after Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu contended that PN can work with BN if the latter gets rid of its affiliations with kleptocracy.

“Faizal’s statement is misleading. What about claims that PN itself was embroiled in some form of corruption, which led them to allegedly spending lavishly in the recent 15th general election?” asked Yussof.

Also, to have PAS as part of PN is also unsettling as the former is known to have an Islamic agenda as its top-most priority, he added.

“We have enough corruption in politics. It is time to win votes based on our intelligence and our performance, not only through cash handouts,” said Yussof. – The Vibes, January 6, 2023
