SHAH ALAM – Former Meru assemblyman Dr Abd Rani Osman died today after losing consciousness while on holiday with his family in Pulau Carey, Kuala Langat.

Selangor PAS secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said Rani, 64, died on his way to Banting Hospital at about 5am.

“The funeral rites were conducted at Banting Hospital. The remains will be taken to Masjid As-Syarif in Meru, Kapar, near here, where another funeral prayer will be held. The remains will be buried at the Meru Muslim cemetery today,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Rani leaves behind a wife, four children, and 11 grandchildren.

Rani, who studied medicine in Egypt, was the Meru assemblyman for two terms from 2008 to 2018. He was Selangor PAS commissioner from 2011 to 2013.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari tweeted his condolences to Rani’s family. – Bernama, January 23, 2023
