KAMPAR – Perak PKR is conducting careful and prudent screening of candidates for political appointments, and will not rush to fill posts involving posts in government-linked companies (GLCs) and local authorities, as well as village heads.

Perak PKR secretary Mohd Azlan Helmi said the move is important to ensure that every new appointment is done in an orderly manner and according to the procedure.

“We do want to speed up the appointments, especially involving village heads and local council members. Even Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad had stated prior to this that it is in the final phase.

“Regarding appointments in GLCs, the list of candidates has already been screened at the Perak PKR leadership level to ensure that those selected are truly qualified, and after that, we will submit the names to the Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership for approval,” said Azlan, who is also the state communications, multimedia, and NGO committee chairman in a press conference after inaugurating the Wow Perak FM carnival in Tualang Sekah here, today.

PH was reported to have been given a 65% quota for political appointments in Perak, while the rest would be filled by parties in Barisan Nasional, with the two coalitions forming an alliance to govern the state.

Meanwhile, Azlan said the Wow Perak FM carnival organised today was aimed at reaching out to the community through various activities and interesting competitions in Tualang Sekah.

“Many agencies are involved and they have provided facilities to the residents here. I see many of them taking the opportunity to undergo free health screenings provided by the Health Ministry as well as other services provided by Yayasan Perak, Tourism Perak, and the Road Transport Department. Even a lawyer service counter was provided.

“The carnival organised by Perak FM is also quite interesting, suitable for both adults and children,” he said.

Earlier, Azlan flagged off the Perak FM vehicle delivering essential items including health equipment to recipients around Tualang Sekah. – Bernama, February 4, 2023
